About the Rods

Cornerstone Series

The Cornerstone Series of rods are hi-end performance driven rods that I developed for myself over my past decade of rod building. These rods were built and rigorously tested to maximize casting distance, accuracy, sensitivity, balance, power, and durability as well as reduce fatigue and lessen wear and tear on line. These rods feature:

-Spiral wrapped guide train layouts- The spiral wrapped guide layout I have tested and put together for these rods allows you to make farther, more accurate, and more effortless casts. Setting up the guides this way eliminates friction between your line and the blank while decreasing the distance your line has to travel to get out of the tip of the rod. It also causes the line to be in contact with the guides 100% of the time increasing sensitivity. With the line being directed under the rod you won't ever have to worry about your line hitting the blank when under load and you will notice your line will stay new much longer especially with those more aggressive styles of fishing with reaction baits like ripping a bladed jig through grass. Spiral Wrapping a rod also removes the rotational torque out of the rod which gives you a more powerful and direct hook set and also stabilizes the rod when fighting a fish. When you remove the rotational torque out of a rod, you remove it out of your wrist as well. (**DISCLAIMER**) The spiral wrapped layouts I have chosen for each rod aren't like the big bulky tip heavy spiral wrapped rods you see by other brands. I have chosen each guide train and guide sizes for each rod to balance well and suit the line size for those techniques maximizing casting distance and balance.

-Fuji K Series Tangle Free Guides. Fuji K Series guides are hands down the best guides on the market......PERIOD. Fuji offers multiple different frame styles for different applications, specialized "Belly" guides to add strength to the mid section of the rod, sloped frames that shed line fast and reduce friction, all while being the lightest and most consistent guides on the market.

-Fuji deluxe reel seat All my rods feature my favorite Fuji Deluxe reel seat. This seat has an upgraded locking nut that will never budge. Also, on the cornerstone series, I trim the threads on the reel seat to make the rod look really sleek and it allows you to rest your finger on the blank and makes palming your reel more comfortable.

-Size A thread and no excess unnecessary finish. All my rods are wrapped with size A thread. I don't enjoy fixing guides so I go the extra step and use size A thread. It is the smallest diameter wrapping thread which means the amount of times the thread wraps around the guide increases which allows for a much stronger wrap, better epoxy absorption, increased surface between thread and guide, and it also looks really good. When Applying epoxy I make sure to do multiple thin coats so you get the strongest adhesion possible with no excess. Excess epoxy especially in the tip of the rod dampens sensitivity and makes the rod tip heavy and does nothing to make the wrap stronger. On my rods, the guide will break from the foot before it pulls out.
